Biting ones tongue hurts!

I'm going to have to log off of facebook until this election is over. People are nuts, and I can not handle it.

I live in the Bible belt, and am standing squarely on the buckle. There is a church on every corner, and a religous post posted every three minutes on my feed. Not that I am anti-religous. More like I am in wonder about how people can claim to be Christians and dismiss how Trump treats people. All the crazy stuff he has said in the past few months has been excused by "Oh that is just how he is."

I have a mother in law that just says what she thinks, the good and the bad. It is dismissed in the family as "Oh that is just how she is." Can I just tell you how much I hate that statement? How much I feel that it is a cop out. How if you are going to be a decent human being, you have to keep the crazy to yourself. You can't just say what you will and expect every single person to embrace it. Trump has said so much crazy stuff in his lifetime, and it is all catching up with him.

Irregardless of what he has said my friends and some of my family is embracing him as the change America needs. Heck his own running mate has distanced himself, and does not agree with his tactics. Most Republicans do not either.

He acted like such a jerk in the debate last night, though he did calm down after the first 30 minutes. He was right behind her while she spoke. Creeped me out! So to see all of these people on my fb feed supporting him is difficult. I am having an issue with how do I even relate to people who support such a man. How are these people even on my fb friends list? How is my family so into this man?

I can say that most of their devotion is due to religious reasons. Abortion is a key factor. I for one do not believe that Trump cares a smidgeon about abortion, or the babies born into poverty. He can not relate to the desperation some people feel when faced with an unplanned for pregnancy. He can not relate to the women who are sexually assaulted by men like him, or who are oppressed in any way. He is not living in the real world at all. My friends, and some of my family are willing to vote for him just on the abortion portion of it. They don't see the big picture. I do not get it. I do not get it. I just do not get it. Why?

I think I will just lay off of fb, or maybe I can just bite my tongue for one more month. Bleh!!

peace :) shemelts

No, he just doesn’t ‘get it’ because he’s in the cohort that doesn’t support women to be equal contributors. Sadly, he will do more damage for international relations than any other president because you’re right, he doesn’t live in the ‘real world. Which, sounds crazy. Who’d elect and support someone like that ?!

I’m not sure how you manage to deal with people whose views are so diametrically opposed to your own. I guess you have to weigh their value in your life. Good luck.… p.s. Facebook sucks. IMHO

I agree….but then again, I don’t like either of them. I feel that if they are the “best” that America can come up with…we’re all screwed anyway. I do get so very tired of my friends who like Trump posting terrible things about Hilary constantly and my friends who like Hilary posting terrible things about Trump constantly. I will be voting, but it won’t be for either one of them.

They’re not the “best” that America can come up with. You obviously don’t know anything about American elections. The parties decide who gets to run on their ticket. These represent what the two major parties decided to back and has no bearing on the fitness, or lack thereof, of the individuals chosen. Unfortunately, instead of choosing based on ideology, merit, intelligence, or, heaven forbid, their actual record of accomplishments, those major party candidates are chosen for their support of their party, their loyalty to the party line, fundraising, etc. It’s taken a couple of hundred years to fine tune the system to get to where it is today, and it will not likely be changed short of another revolution or systematic collapse of the current government hierarchy. Everyone likes to believe that they chose the representatives, but who was it that gave us the choices to begin with? And primaries? Please! They’re so rigged and lop-sided that there’s almost no reason for anyone to bother to show up, just ask Bernie. ‘Here you go everyone. Your choice is between an idiot, a fucktard, a moron, and a steaming pile of shit! Good luck!’ And then everyone acts surprised and criticizes when the steaming pile of shit is elected.

I do know about American elections. I was just being a bit of a bitch about it. I agree with most of what you are saying. The American elections are bullshit….but we do have citizens out there backing these people despite all that they have done or said (whether in the past or present) and the fact that they will continue to follow them regardless of these things is truly sad.
